«The life as a miracle» — foundation of the help to children with a serious liver illness.

The purposes of our work

1. To generate positive public opinion about transplantology, having created thereby as much as possible favorable conditions for development of this branch of medicine in Russia.
2. To promote the further development of possibilities of the Russian Research Centre of Surgery (RNTSH RAMN) in Moscow on performance of related liver transplantation to children, including infancy.
3. To create conditions for improvement of professional skill for the Russian doctors working in this area, and even in leading profile world clinics.
4. Directly to help children needing a liver transplantation.
5. To support already operated children, to provided the qualified medical control.
6. To unite business elite for financing of these programs.
7. To popularise idea of private charity.

Principles of foundation work

All funds listed for sick children are spent in designated purpose. Administrative expenses of foundation (the rent, the salary etc.) covered from other sources. You also can support foundation work, specified as the donation purpose «In maintenance of foundation work».

You can always know, on what the funds offered you have gone: we publish the reporting about the collected funds and at your request we are ready to give the report on the distributed funds.

History of foundation creation

Charity foundation «Family. Traditions. Mercy» has been established in March, 2009, the Fund has received official registration in May in the same year.

The foundation has been created on priest Alexey Darashevich’s blessing, in memory of his children who died and got serious traumas in car accident. The four children who have had an accident, have died on the spot (the son and the daughter of father Alexey and two their friends), other two sons of father Alexey have survived, but were in hospital. When father Alexey was comprehended by this terrible loss, different people have helped him including absolutely strangers: have rendered encouragement, have collected necessary funds for expensive operation abroad for one of the survived boy. These boys are now healthy and come back a normal life due to diligence of these many people. «...Like this, by the whole world, it is possible to rescue many children, — father Alexey says — and it is a goal for the foundation „The life as a miracle“ — to help the sick children, returning a miracle of a full life to them».

The life as a miracle

The primary program of foundation for today — the charitable project «The life as a miracle», directed to the help seriously ill children of needy families. We do not want that the human life depended on presence or absence of the countable sum of money at the people who have got to a trouble.

Why «The life as a miracle»? In the course of discussion of the name of project we have arrived to an idea that for all sick children the life is a miracle. Health is a miracle. Recover — a miracle too. They wait for this miracle and pray for it. In our hard time, readiness to help is a miracle too. So the name of our project — «The life as a miracle» was born.

To whom we help

The basic direction of foundation activity today is directed to the help children, requiring a liver transplantation.

This unique for Russia direction of work of foundation has been chosen by us after association with the Nastenka Rogalevich’s Society which helped children suffering by a biliary atresia and other difficult diseases, demanding liver transplantation. The society has been created in May, 2005 in memory of the little girl who did not have time to survive.

Almost 40 children had an opportunity to live further due to the Society. Volunteers collected funds for operations and annual postoperative checkup, helped to solve the legal problems (preparation of documents for transplantation abroad, if it was necessary — they did what they could to help in getting visa). Children operated in Russia and in Belgium (liver transplantation has been existed in our country only last 4 years).

All people who addressed for the help and consultations in the Nastenka Rogalevich’s Society, can address for the help to us now. We will necessarily try to help.

Three members of the Society have come in our foundation as volunteers: Victoria Lihtina, Tatyana Haritonova, Marina Kulagina (Belgium). They have made the decision to be a part of foundation «The life as a miracle» because actually for performance of the same noble and necessary action as the help sick children, legally the foundation structure is more convenient.

For example, the foundation allows to provide a transparency in an expenditure of funds at conducting monetary calculations, gives possibilities for money redistribution if there is such necessity (for example, the collected sum more demanded) because money arrives in the foundation account, instead of in the account of child’s parents or relatives. Besides, we can help more people together, to involve more people for rendering aid, to inform on current actions and about results of work more widely. Together we simply can more.

To help together is easier

«You will not help all». Yes, but it is possible to help who really requires. The population of Russia — 140 million. 1 rouble from everyone — the huge sum, ten roubles — is even more. If is it one hundred?! But the average necessary sum on liver transplantation operation abroad is 87 thousand euro. Certainly, this sum for the majority of families in Russia is a whaling sum, well and if to divide it into all? It will turn out after all very little.

In addition, the help is necessary to foundations. It is necessary to visit children in ward in hospital, experts for rendering of the psychological help are necessary. Yes simply to resist to a bureaucratic machinery and indifference is hard alone. To help together is easier, and to cope with any trouble together is easier.

The charitable project «The life as a miracle» is created for the association, dialogue and help the requiring. «To help» is to do something necessary for another, not important, this action will be small or big. What matter, if this action is necessary? To tell a word of a consolation to the one who requires is the help. To present a smile and care to the child exhausted with illness is a huge help. To support parents of this child who struggle day by day for his life ... Is it not enough?
