Hospital is on the threshold of New Year. There is a dressed up Christmas tree in a corridor. It is evening. It is silence. And how can it be in hospital differently. The day before, on December, 17th, all people there celebrated New Year. It was showed representations with monkeys and pigeons. All children were presented on a soft toy — an elephant, which, an elephant or a mammoth, nobody know. It is such as Denis has in his hands.

All children were presented such elephant — mammoth. Certainly, everyone dreams about something his own, but any gift is pleasant. An elephant is pleasure for Denis because he collects elephants. He has already about hundred pieces of this animal in different kinds in his house. And he has brought one of them with himself in RNCH. It is such round, shaggy heffalump.

Denis dreams of the car in general, big toy, with pedals that it will be possible to sit down in it and to go, twisting pedals. And then nobody begins to point a finger at him and to say that he is the invalid. It is simply taken for a ride in a car. And even more secret and most treasured dream of the boy and his relatives is that Denis has started to go. The femur collapses because of problems with kidneys. And the child is compelled to sit in an invalid carriage at such age when children are very mobile, run, jump. It is doubly hard for Denis, because he knows what a pleasure to go on the feet, to run and skip means. He could do it earlier, and he can’t now. But God is mercy, now Denis has a new kidney which works, so all organism will work as it is necessary, and a bone will grow; only it will be not at once, for now. . But there is a charm of children’s age in that that children can distract on different interesting affairs and don’t think about sad moments. Denis sings songs for doctors, and they give him toys. Besides, he has very interesting way to learn world and to remember the information. Denis reads any book, and then he asks that parents have bought a toy or the designer for him which concerns this book. For example, recently he has read a fairy tale about Snow White, and the big brother has presented to him a set of dolls «Snow White and 7 gnomes». Each gnome has own aspect, a name and the dress.

Doctors took a biopsy from Denis on Friday after which he badly felt, but all was good already on Saturday. He and his mum prepare to sign out on Monday, on December, 21st, and on Tuesday they will leave home. Though still one week earlier doctors said that they will go home after January, 10th. And it means that everything is all right, and there is no need to be in hospital. Also it is one more New Year’s gift.

Father of Denis Ivanov has signed out and he has left home. Denis began to drink more waters that the kidney works and urine departed. Certainly, all is not so simply and it is impossible at once, as it would be desirable, but business moves ahead slowly.

Denis feels better, he sits already on a bed and cheerfully reads the book to the grandmother, the father watches TV.

Doctor Nadezhda Babenko has told that operation was successful, all is good, and transplant has accustomed and has worked. Doctors promise to release Denis home by the end of month.

Denis has operated yesterday, on December, 1st. Doctors have replaced a kidney to him from the father. He has started to call mum at once as soon as he has regained consciousness from a narcosis in branch.

It is now uneasy to Denis. According to plan the dialysis should be every other day, and doctors do it every day, it is an emergency measure. Doctors enter antibiotics to him after a dialysis. Happens, the temperature rises. Nevertheless, transplantation is already very soon. So imagine a train accelerating, despite all uneasy situations, going to the planned purpose. It is impossible to sit down in this train in this situation without intervention of doctors, modern preparations and you who have paid chance to the child to live further normally.

Denis surprises with moral spirit, songs on all dialysis room, than pleases other small patients and medical staff. By the way, the boy has a perfect ear! Denis still goes woolgathering and lives in any fantastic measurement; apparently, conditions in the hospital became quite habitual for him. The hooting device of the hemodialysis, twitching tubules, on which his blood runs to be cleared in the car — ingenious, but not so as a natural kidney, not the most pleasant procedures, all of these don’t disturb him. Mum, truth, has much tried for this purpose: a corner of Denis in chamber is the coziest, the poster with an icon is on a wall over a bed, the house coverlet is on bed, a windowsill contains set of household things; there is a place even for huge plush elephant in his corner. Elephants are secret Denis’s passion. It seems to the boy that the elephant grows, and mum encourages and cultivates this legend: She has promised that after operation the elephant will even more grow and becomes absolutely huge. Such, as an elephant is in the Samara children’s world.

The father has already arrived, from which the kidney will be replaced to Denis.

Transplantation is planned for December, 1st.

Ivanova Irina Borisovna has addressed with the request for the help in our Foundation on October, 7th, 2009, she is mum of 9-year-old boy Ivanov Denis from Samara.

Denis Ivanov was born on May, 25th, 2000. Kid Denis has got to resuscitation in 12 days after a birth. Doctors ascertained that both kidneys of the child have undeveloped innately and that the child won’t live and about one year with such diagnosis. The child has survived. Denis has physical inability even in infancy. Mother has lost health because of constant stresses and a lack of money. All has ended with physical inability as a result.

When Denis was born, his parents were already divorced. The father of the child works as the loader and doesn’t live with a family. Denis stopped to go in 2007. The father has agreed to give the kidney and it is possible to tell that Denis is the happy person. Because «people who have relatives who can be donors, — the happiest if it is possible so to say about people with deadly illness», — Michael Kaabak (managing of kidney transplantation branch of RNCH) is convinced.

Denis Ivanov among them: the kidney for him was promised by the father. And it is already 50 percent in favor of that it will well get accustomed. According to the medical statistics, the donor genetic material without expensive preparations of Kempas and ATG-Frezenius can work in an organism till 15 years. It can work more than 30 with medicines. The maximum term of work for a kidney from the died donor is seven years and 14 years accordingly.
Two preparations are necessary to small Denis for possibility to live twice longer, which are not entering into state treatment — «ATG-Frezenius» and «Kempas» in cost of 399 300 roubles who are necessary to start for entering in advance, 21 day prior to operation. Operation is appointed to November.
